Towne group have recently purchased an Intros Non Destructive Testing (NDT) unit to perform NDT on wire ropes up to 40mm. These tests can be performed in-situ enabling you to get the maximum life from your wire rope without expensive de-rigging and re-rigging costs.

Non Destructive TestingRopes deteriorate for several reasons with their residual strength reducing over time. To ensure safe working companies have legal obligations under LOLER to have wire ropes checked periodically and discarded in a timely fashion.

Our new NDT services enable us to effectively perform these tests whilst the wire ropes are in-situ. This enables large cost savings as wire ropes can be used safely for a longer period without the costs incurred by removing ropes from use for testing.

The system works in two ways by revealing local flaws (LF) and measuring the loss of metallic area (LMA). The unit is lightweight and can be transported to perform tests in any area.

Please read more about Non Destructive Testing or contact us for more details.
